How personal training works at Legacy

Most gyms hire trainers as employees and assign you whoever has an open slot. Legacy works differently. The coaches are independent professionals who chose to work from the facility, and you choose the one you want to work with. You book directly with them, agree on how often to meet, and they quote you their own rate, typically per session or as a package.

That structure changes the relationship. Your coach is running their own practice, so their reputation depends on whether you get results and keep showing up. There is no sales team standing between you and the person who writes your program.

Legacy is a private training facility, not a public gym. Sessions are one-on-one or small-group, so there is no crowded floor and no waiting for equipment. Every coach on the roster is certified and vetted before joining.

The first session

What happens at your free introduction

The first consultation and introductory session is free, with no obligation. It is a conversation and a first look at how you move, not a sales pitch. Expect the coach to ask about your goals, your training history, injuries or medical issues, your schedule and what has or has not worked before.

  • You describe what you want and why it matters to you.
  • The coach asks about history, health and how much time you realistically have.
  • You do some basic movement and a light taste of how they coach.
  • They explain how they would approach your goal and how often they would want to see you.
  • You hear their rate and decide whether to go ahead. There is no pressure either way.
Choosing

Finding the coach who fits your goal

Coaches at Legacy list specialties such as strength and conditioning, weight loss, body recomposition, athletic performance, boxing, HIIT, mobility, injury prevention and nutrition coaching. Some work with beginners, others with competitive lifters, older adults or teenagers. A few focus on women, and several offer small-group sessions.

Start with your goal, then look at the people who specialize in it. If you are not sure, the introduction is the time to ask. You can meet more than one coach before settling, and no membership holds you to a particular person.

Structure

How a typical program is built

Programs start with a baseline: measurements, movement quality, training history and current habits. From there your coach picks a split that fits your week, chooses exercises you can learn and perform well, and sets rules for adding weight or difficulty as you improve.

Strength work is the backbone of most programs because it is the most reliable way to change body composition, build capacity and protect joints. Cardio, mobility and nutrition guidance are layered in as your goals demand. Progress is tracked with numbers you can see, such as lifts, measurements and training logs, and the plan is adjusted when the numbers say it should be.

How often you train depends on your goal, your recovery and your budget. Many people see their coach one to three times a week and follow a plan on their own on other days.

Why coached

What a coach does that a program cannot

A printed program tells you what to do. A coach sees what you actually do. They notice the knee caving in on the last rep, the rushed tempo, the day you are clearly under-slept and need a lighter session. They adjust in the moment, keep you honest and keep you training when motivation is low.

Accountability is a real part of the value. When someone expects you at 6:30 on Thursday, you tend to turn up. Many people find they train more consistently for a year with a coach than they did for years alone.

Who it suits

Personal training for different people

Legacy coaches work with adults of all experience levels and with teenagers in one-on-one sessions only. Under-13s are not permitted on the training floor except in supervised boxing and MMA sessions in designated areas. If you are pregnant or postpartum, older, recovering from an injury or managing a heart, blood pressure or other medical condition, get clearance from a physician before starting and tell your coach so the program can be built around it.

Busy professionals, parents, retirees, athletes and first-timers all train here. The common thread is wanting a plan built for them and a person who holds them to it.
