In Their Words

Teryn, on coaching.

Athletic Performance Training San Diego

I’m Teryn Stanley, a dedicated personal trainer with a passion for fitness, baseball, and helping others succeed. With over 15 years of coaching and training experience, I bring extensive knowledge and expertise to my clients.

From MLB Athlete to Coach

My journey in athletics began with my passion for baseball. In 1999, I was drafted by the MLB as a shortstop straight out of high school. After my playing career, I transitioned into coaching, where I found my true calling.

My passion for coaching started with mentoring my son and grew into establishing a successful travel club for aspiring baseball players. I then became a respected high school baseball coach, guiding young athletes toward achieving their dreams.

iTrain University-San Diego

Recognizing the need for comprehensive athletic development, I founded iTrain University-San Diego. This program empowers young athletes to reach their full potential by combining fitness, baseball skills, and personal development.

As a certified personal trainer, I create personalized fitness plans tailored to your individual needs and goals. My approach includes:

Training With Teryn

Personal Training at Legacy.

Personal training is one coach, one plan, built around you. It combines assessment, programming, coaching in the room and accountability, so the time you invest goes toward your own goals rather than a generic routine.

01

A conversation and an assessment

Your coach learns your goals, history, schedule and limitations, and screens how you move before writing anything down.

02

A program that belongs to you

Exercises, loads and session structure are chosen for your body and goal, and they change as you improve.

03

Coaching in the room

Your coach teaches technique, adjusts loads in real time and keeps sessions productive, which is the part an app or a video cannot do.

04

Measured progress

Strength, measurements, consistency and how you feel are tracked so you can see the direction, not just guess at it.

Who personal training coaching suits
  • People starting or restarting exercise who want guidance
  • Anyone who wants accountability and a plan they do not have to build
  • Those with a specific goal and a deadline
  • Experienced trainees who want expert feedback
A typical first month

Every plan is built around the individual, so your coach will adjust this. As a general shape, the first four weeks of personal training coaching tend to run like this.

01

Week 1: Assess and plan

Goals, history and a movement screen produce your starting program.

02

Week 2: Learn the program

Exercises are taught, loads are set and you learn how a session flows.

03

Week 3: Progress

Weights and difficulty rise as you get comfortable, and your coach refines technique.

04

Week 4: Review and adjust

Results are compared with your starting numbers, and the next block is built from what worked.

Common mistakes this coaching fixes
  • Following random workouts with no progression
  • Training hard without recovering
  • Waiting until motivated rather than building a schedule
