Training With Andy

Functional & Endurance at Legacy.

Functional and endurance training builds the capacity to move well and keep moving: carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing and holding a pace. It develops strength through full-body patterns and builds the aerobic base that makes both daily life and sport feel easier.

01

Movement patterns, not isolated muscles

Sessions are built from squats, hinges, pushes, pulls, carries and rotation, trained in ways that transfer to real life and sport.

02

A deliberate aerobic base

Easy, steady work and harder intervals are programmed on purpose, so conditioning improves without running you into the ground.

03

Progression you can measure

Pace, distance, heart-rate response, loads and rep quality are tracked, so improvement is visible and the next step is clear.

04

Variety with a plan

Equipment and formats change, but the weekly structure stays consistent so each session builds on the last.

Who functional & endurance coaching suits
  • Runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes who want to get stronger
  • People training for an event, a hike or a race
  • Those who want to feel capable and less winded in daily life
  • Anyone who gets bored with a single-lane routine
A typical first month

Every plan is built around the individual, so your coach will adjust this. As a general shape, the first four weeks of functional & endurance coaching tend to run like this.

01

Week 1: Assess

Movement screen, a simple aerobic test and a look at your current training. Easy, technique-focused sessions begin.

02

Week 2: Build the base

Steady aerobic work and full-body strength sessions settle into a weekly rhythm.

03

Week 3: Introduce intensity

Intervals and heavier carries are added in measured doses, with recovery days protected.

04

Week 4: Retest

The same test from week one is repeated, and the gains guide the next block.

Common mistakes this coaching fixes
  • Doing every session hard, so no session is really productive
  • Building endurance while ignoring strength
  • Increasing volume faster than the body can adapt
Strength & Performance

Strength & Performance with Andy.

Strength and performance training uses progressive overload on the major lifts and athletic movements to build force, power and resilience. It serves anyone who wants to be stronger, from a first barbell squat to a competitive athlete preparing for a season.

Technique before load. Lifts are taught and reviewed first, because a clean pattern makes heavier weight safer and more productive.

Planned progression. Weights, sets and reps are laid out across weeks, with built-in lighter weeks, so strength climbs without constant plateaus or burnout.

Who it suits
  • People who want to get measurably stronger
  • Athletes who need strength and power for their sport
  • Newer lifters who want to learn the main lifts properly
  • Experienced lifters who want an outside set of eyes and a structured plan
