Meet Tony – Your New Functional Strength & Fat Loss Coach

HOWDY Y’ALL! I could not be more thrilled that you’re here. I’m a personal trainer out of San Diego, CA. I’ve been training for the better part of 15 years and I hold multiple certifications with ACE, PPSC, and Pn1 Nutrition. I am an absolute geek for human movement, movies, comedy and board sports. I’m also a foodie at heart and will never turn down a plate of sushi.

I first started my fitness journey at 13 years old, going with my Dad to Gold’s Gym. I fell in love with fitness from Day 1 and never looked back.

I’ve poured my heart and soul into learning everything I can about training and nutrition. Every protocol that I now set for clients is based on years of training experience, continuing education and mentorship programs.

I’ve been in the game for a long time, and helping others play the game right is what I do best. I can’t wait to get you Toned By Tony!

Training With Tony

Strength & Performance at Legacy.

Strength and performance training uses progressive overload on the major lifts and athletic movements to build force, power and resilience. It serves anyone who wants to be stronger, from a first barbell squat to a competitive athlete preparing for a season.

01

Technique before load

Lifts are taught and reviewed first, because a clean pattern makes heavier weight safer and more productive.

02

Planned progression

Weights, sets and reps are laid out across weeks, with built-in lighter weeks, so strength climbs without constant plateaus or burnout.

03

Training that supports your sport

For athletes, the program is matched to the demands and calendar of the sport: strength in the off-season, power and maintenance as competition nears.

04

Tracked numbers

Every session is logged, so you can see what you lifted last month and what the next target is.

Who strength & performance coaching suits
  • People who want to get measurably stronger
  • Athletes who need strength and power for their sport
  • Newer lifters who want to learn the main lifts properly
  • Experienced lifters who want an outside set of eyes and a structured plan
A typical first month

Every plan is built around the individual, so your coach will adjust this. As a general shape, the first four weeks of strength & performance coaching tend to run like this.

01

Week 1: Learn the lifts

Squat, hinge, press and pull patterns are taught and assessed with light weight.

02

Week 2: Establish working weights

Sets and reps are set at manageable loads, and you start logging each session.

03

Week 3: Progress

Small weight or rep increases are added where technique allows.

04

Week 4: Lighter week and review

A planned lighter week lets the body adapt. Then your numbers are reviewed and the next block begins.

Common mistakes this coaching fixes
  • Adding weight before technique is solid
  • Training with no plan or log, so progress cannot be seen
  • Skipping recovery and expecting steady gains
Body Recomposition

Body Recomposition with Tony.

Body recomposition is the goal of losing fat and building or keeping muscle at the same time, so the scale matters less than what the body is made of. It is slower to read on a bathroom scale and more durable than a crash diet, because the training signal that tells the body to keep muscle stays on while energy intake is managed.

A baseline first. Your coach records starting measurements, movement quality, training history and current eating habits, so progress is compared with your own numbers rather than a generic target.

Resistance training as the engine. Programs are built around progressive strength work for the major muscle groups, with the load, volume and rest chosen for your experience level and schedule.

Who it suits
  • People who want to lose fat without losing the muscle they have
  • Lifters who have plateaued and want a structured approach
  • Anyone who has dieted before and regained the weight
  • Newer trainees who want shape and strength, not just a lower number on a scale
Functional & Endurance

Functional & Endurance with Tony.

Functional and endurance training builds the capacity to move well and keep moving: carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing and holding a pace. It develops strength through full-body patterns and builds the aerobic base that makes both daily life and sport feel easier.

Movement patterns, not isolated muscles. Sessions are built from squats, hinges, pushes, pulls, carries and rotation, trained in ways that transfer to real life and sport.

A deliberate aerobic base. Easy, steady work and harder intervals are programmed on purpose, so conditioning improves without running you into the ground.

Who it suits
  • Runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes who want to get stronger
  • People training for an event, a hike or a race
  • Those who want to feel capable and less winded in daily life
  • Anyone who gets bored with a single-lane routine

Yes, when it is coached. A good coach starts with a movement assessment, teaches the patterns with light loads, and progresses only when your technique is solid. Tell your coach about any injuries or medical conditions at your introduction.

How soon will I get stronger?

Most new lifters add weight within the first few weeks because technique and coordination improve quickly. After that, progress follows a plan of gradual loading, rest and consistency.
